Overview Header

Bolt Agents can now retrieve and share student information—like FAFSA status or account balances—stored in custom fields—directly within a conversation. This new skill, User Data Access, enables agents to provide immediate, around-the-clock, tailored responses to student inquiries, reducing the need for staff intervention.

For example, an agent on your Business Office page can now answer questions like “What’s my current balance?” with a simple yet secure authentication.

Details Header
  • New Skill: The Access User Data skill can now be enabled for individual agents via Engagement > Bolt Agents.

  • Authentication Required: Students must authenticate before any personal data is shared. A confirmation code is sent to the student’s email, which they provide in the chat to confirm their identity.

    • Agents will also display a message when asking for the student’s email: Just a heads-up: After logging in, your data will be accessible in this chat until you log out.

    • Once authenticated, they’ll see a new “log out” button at the bottom of the messenger widget.

  • Controlled Data Access: Once the skill is enabled, administrators can choose which custom data fields the agent can access. Note: Upload-type fields are not supported.

  • Integration with Other Skills: Works seamlessly alongside appointment scheduling, event registration, and other skills to provide a rich, context-aware student experience.
