Overview

The Transcript Evaluation Agent is an AI-powered feature that reads and processes uploaded high school and college transcripts. It automatically extracts structured academic data, summarizes key insights, and surfaces results directly within a student’s profile — all while linking back to the original document for context.

This agent is one of Element451’s AI Agents for Admissions, alongside the Application Reader Agent and Fraud Detection Agent, designed to help institutions evaluate applicants faster, more consistently, and with greater insight.

Key Benefits

  • Speed: Replace of manual transcript data entry and evaluation with instant AI evaluation.

  • Accuracy: Standardizes GPA, course, and credit data across varied formats.

  • Insight: Surfaces academic trends, rigor levels, and strengths at a glance. How It Works

How it Works

  1. Enable AI Transcript Evaluation

    • Administrators can toggle on the AI Transcript Evaluation setting for any document type. When a document is uploaded with this document type or the document type is changed to a qualifying document type, the Bolt Transcript Evaluation agent will begin work to create an evaluation.

    • Documents loaded the Transcript field for school will automatically be evaluated. No additional configuration needed.

  2. Upload and Process

    • Once a transcript is uploaded, the agent detects its type (high school or college) and extracts structured data automatically—no manual setup required.

  3. Review Results in Profiles

    • Results appear in a new Transcript Evaluations card on the student’s profile. Staff can view summaries, open detailed sidebars, and link to the source file.

  4. Export (optional)

    • All structured data is available for export via transcript data mappings in Import + Export.

About AI Insights

Academic Trends

  • Provides a high-level summary of the student’s academic trajectory over time. It highlights patterns such as early challenges, improvements, or consistency in performance. The agent analyzes grade data chronologically to identify trends like GPA progression, recovery from low grades, or sustained academic strength.

  • Example insight: Notes improvement after a failing grade or identifies consistent high achievement across terms.

Strengths

  • Identifies areas where the student demonstrates strong academic or skill-based performance. The agent pinpoints disciplines or subjects with repeated success, persistence in overcoming earlier difficulties, or clear alignment with the student’s intended field of study.

  • Example insight: Highlights consistent A-level performance in major-related courses or success in retaken subjects.

Weaknesses

  • Outlines areas with limited performance or challenges that may impact the overall academic record. It includes notes on subjects where grades were lower, repeated, or withdrawn, as well as gaps in breadth or quantitative coursework.

  • Example insight: Mentions lack of advanced-level courses, a poor grade in a specific area, or a low mark that continues to affect GPA.

Rigor

  • Assesses the overall academic challenge reflected in the coursework. The agent evaluates factors such as course level (lower- vs. upper-division), credit type (transferable vs. non-transferable), honors or advanced courses, and alignment with typical college standards.

  • Example insight: Indicates whether coursework primarily reflects lower-division community college rigor or includes evidence of advanced study.

GPA Conversion

The Transcript Evaluation agent will convert reported grades to a standard 4.0 scale, eliminating the need to convert letter grades and 100 point scales manually.

  • 97–100 = A+ = 4.0

  • 93–96 = A = 4.0

  • 90–92 = A- = 3.7

  • 87–89 = B+ = 3.3

  • 83–86 = B = 3.0

  • 80–82 = B- = 2.7

  • 77–79 = C+ = 2.3

  • 73–76 = C = 2.0

  • 70–72 = C- = 1.7

  • 67–69 = D+ = 1.3

  • 65–66 = D = 1.0

  • 60–64 = D- = 0.7

  • 0–59 = F = 0.0

Pass/Fail, Audit, W, I = Excluded from GPA.
