Released: March 4, 2026
Element451's PayPal integration now supports webhook-based payment confirmations, replacing the previous client-side confirmation flow. This update improves the reliability, security, and consistency of PayPal payment processing across applications, events, forms, and deposits.
Webhook-based confirmation: Payment confirmations from PayPal are now received directly via webhook, eliminating the need for the frontend to call the API to confirm payment status. This resolves edge cases where payment statuses could become out of sync between Element451 and PayPal.
New setups require webhooks: Any new PayPal payment gateway configuration will require webhook setup as part of the onboarding process. A new required field has been added to the gateway setup screen in the dashboard.
Existing setups and recommended action: Current PayPal gateway configurations will continue to function as they do today β no immediate action is required. However, we recommend updating your configuration to use the new webhook-based flow for improved reliability and security. Updated setup instructions are available in the linked guide below.
