Overview

The Bolt Priority Index uses advanced machine learning to gauge a contact’s likelihood of progressing to the next major step in the enrollment funnel. This contact trait helps you identify and prioritize records with the highest probability of taking action, allowing your team to focus on the most promising prospects.

The Bolt Priority Index is displayed alongside other contact traits on the Traits Profile Card or by clicking More Data from the left-hand panel of a contact’s profile. Additionally, you can use the Priority Index as a filter when creating segments, enabling targeted communication and strategic outreach. Learn more about this in the segments section below.

Some contacts may not have a Bolt Priority Index score. This includes historical records and newly created contacts. Scores are generated after sufficient interaction data has been collected.

Calculation of Bolt Priority Score

Element451 calculates prioritization using numeric scores and labels based on the following behaviors and classifications:

  • Interactions with Email

  • Interactions with SMS

  • Interactions with Conversations

  • Interactions with Events

  • Interactions with Applications

  • Interactions with Appointments

  • Days Between Key Behaviors

  • Days since Last Key Behavior

  • Institution Type

  • Institution Category

  • Institution Size

Bolt Priority Index Descriptions

The Bolt Priority Index categorizes contacts into the following levels:

Priority Index

Prime

Very active and likely to take the next step.

Active and moving in the right direction.

Steady

Somewhat active but not close to moving forward.

Stalled

Somewhat inactive and unlikely to take a step soon.

Stagnant

Inactive and very unlikely to move forward any time soon.

Understanding the Difference: Bolt Priority Index vs. Student Engagement Score

The Bolt Priority Index is a forward-looking tool that predicts future student behavior, distinguishing it from the Student Engagement Score. While the Engagement Score reflects a student’s current activity within the Element451 platform, the Priority Index focuses on what lies ahead.

Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, the Priority Index forecasts how likely a student is to move forward in the enrollment funnel. This predictive power enables you to:

  • Make smarter decisions about allocating resources

  • Target your efforts on students most likely to enroll

  • Act with greater confidence in expected outcomes

Although the Priority Index can help identify at-risk students, its primary strength lies in uncovering opportunities. By pinpointing students with a high probability of progressing, you can optimize your recruitment strategies and improve enrollment rates.

In essence, the Bolt Priority Index transforms data into foresight, empowering you to make an impact where it matters most.

Using the Bolt Priority Index

The Bolt Priority Index empowers your team to take action where it matters most, providing insights for prioritizing outreach, allocating resources, and optimizing campaigns. Here’s how you can use it effectively:

Segments

When creating user segments, the Bolt Priority Index helps you compare how different groups of contacts perform. More importantly, it enables you to pinpoint high-priority students who are most likely to engage. Use this insight to refine your segments and ensure you’re focusing your efforts on contacts with the highest potential for advancement.

Tasks

Combining the utility of task queues with Priority Index information allows you to communicate with high-priority targets promptly. This also provides an opportunity to allocate internal resources in an effective manner.

Campaigns

The Priority Index enhances your Campaigns by enabling customized versions tailored to a student’s likelihood of advancing through the enrollment funnel. This results in more relevant, impactful messaging that resonates with students, increasing the chances of moving them forward. Use Dynamic Content to personalize each campaign, ensuring your messages align with the specific needs and interests of each contact. This approach drives better results and fosters stronger connections throughout their journey.
