Overview

In this help article, we’re going to show you just how easy it is to create Bolt Agent Jobs without starting from scratch. Thanks to intuitive tools like the Staff Agent and helpful shortcuts, you can get up and running quickly with Jobs that proactively engage your students.

🚨 Important: Be sure to review every setting—including instructions, actions, and action instructions—so you can tailor the Job to your exact needs. The shortcuts are templates meant to be shaped, not activated as-is.

Option 1: Staff Agent Side Panel

What: The Bolt Job Creator is a conversational way to create Bolt Agent Jobs with guided support from the Staff Agent.

How: Open the Staff Agent panel by selecting the orange Bolt Agent icon in the top-right corner of the platform. From there, tell the Staff Agent what you’re trying to accomplish—such as promoting an application, following up after an event, or nudging students to book an appointment. The Staff Agent will ask a few clarifying questions to understand your goal. Based on your responses, it applies a recommended Bolt Agent Job Template and generates a draft Job for you.

Why: Use this option when you want guidance, are exploring Job possibilities, or prefer a conversational setup experience.

✨Pro Tip: You can also access the Bolt Job Creator from the New Bolt Agent Job form. When creating a Job manually, click the "Create with Bolt Job Creator" button at the top of the form to open the side panel and build your Job conversationally.

Option 2: Shortcuts

What: A faster way to start a Bolt Agent Job using a predefined template—while still working through the Staff Agent.

How: In the Staff Agent side panel, click the Shortcuts tab and select a Job shortcut.

Each shortcut represents a specific Job template, such as an application follow-up or event promotion. After selecting a shortcut, the Staff Agent takes over and asks a few targeted questions—similar to the conversational flow in Option 1. Based on your responses, it builds the Job using the selected template. Once created, the Job opens in draft mode where you can review, customize, and launch.

Why: Use Shortcuts when you already know which Job template you want and want to skip discovery while still benefiting from guided setup.

Option 3: Within Modules/Features

What: Contextual Job creation directly from the module you’re working in.

How: Applications, Appointments, Events, Forms, and Surveys include a Create Bolt Agent Job button in the header. Selecting this option applies a module-specific template aligned with that feature’s purpose. The Job opens in draft mode so you can review and customize it before launch.

Why: Use this option when you’re already working in a module and want to create a related Job without switching contexts.
