Getting Started with Bolt Deduplication

Meet Bolt Deduplication, the AI-powered way to find, review, and merge duplicate contact records in Element451.

Written by Kootayba Chihabi

Overview

Bolt Deduplication is the new AI-powered deduplication experience in Element451. Powered by Bolt Analysis, it goes beyond a match score. Every potential duplicate pair comes with a confidence level, a plain-language explanation of why it was flagged, and a recommendation for which record to keep.

With Bolt Deduplication you can:

  • Prioritize at a glance using color-coded confidence levels instead of opening every pair one by one.

  • Understand every match with clear reasoning, the key signals behind it, and any concerns that argue against it.

  • Merge with confidence using a review experience built for working through large queues safely.

Accessing Bolt Deduplication

Navigate to Contacts > Deduplication.

Switching Between Bolt and Legacy Deduplication

The legacy Deduplication module remains fully supported, and you can move between the two experiences at any time:

  • From Bolt Deduplication, click Switch to legacy deduplication in the page header.

  • From the legacy module, click Switch to Bolt Deduplication to return.

Element451 remembers your choice. If you switch to the legacy module, the Deduplication menu item keeps taking you there until you switch back.

The Review Queue

The review queue lists every potential duplicate pair that Bolt Analysis has flagged, with unresolved pairs shown by default.

  • Confidence level: Each pair displays a color-coded High, Medium, or Low confidence rating so you can scan the queue and decide where to focus.

  • Record context: Columns surface the details reviewers rely on, such as date of birth, labels, and created date, with timestamps shown in your institution's timezone.

  • Search and filters: Find specific contacts or narrow the queue to the pairs you care about, including revisiting pairs you previously ignored.

How Bolt Finds Duplicates

Bolt Analysis runs automatically in the background. When a contact record is created or updated, Element451 checks key identity fields, generates likely match candidates, and runs an in-depth AI analysis on the pairs that look like real duplicates. Nothing is ever merged automatically. Your team always makes the final call.

Reviewing and Merging

Open any pair to see the two records side by side with Bolt's full analysis alongside. Choose which values to keep, merge the pair, or ignore it if the records belong to different people. You can also act on multiple vetted pairs at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Bolt merge records automatically?

No. Bolt Analysis identifies, explains, and recommends, but every merge is reviewed and confirmed by a person on your team.

Can I revert an accidental merge?

No, unfortunately at this time a merge cannot be reverted. You can send back to your review queue an accidentally dismissed pair from the history, however once a merge has been confirmed, it is final.

Is the legacy Deduplication module going away?

No. Both experiences are available, and you can switch between them from the Deduplication page header. The legacy module is documented in Getting Started with the Deduplication Module.

Do I need to set anything up?

No. Detection runs continuously in the background whenever contact records are created or updated.
