Released: January 12, 2026
To better safeguard contact data during form submissions, we’ve introduced Email Verification for Forms Submissions. This enhancement allows Element451 to verify that the person submitting a form is the rightful owner of the email address being used—before any data is matched to or updates an existing record.
When a form submission matches an existing contact, Email Verification alerts the email address owner before proceeding—giving them a chance to confirm their desired submission prior to any updates being made to the record.
Unlike Authenticated Forms, which require an existing Element451 record and are primarily designed to prevent duplicate contacts, Email Verification supports both the creation of new contacts and the protection of existing ones. It reduces the risk of accidental overwrites—particularly in cases where shared or reused email addresses are used, such as a parent submitting forms for multiple children.
This feature is configurable at the form level, giving your team the flexibility to balance user experience with data integrity.
New “Email Verification” setting in Form Setup allows verification to be toggled on or off
Three verification modes to control behavior:
Never – Default setting; no verification is required, and form data updates the matched record based on email
Always – Verification is required for all submissions, regardless of whether a record already exists
On Conflict – Verification is triggered only when an email matches an existing record and submitted data conflicts with key fields (First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, SSN, Date of Birth, Phone Numbers)
Inline messaging and verification flow ensures users receive a code via email and must confirm ownership before submission completes
Protects against record overwrites in common scenarios, such as parents submitting multiple inquiries for different children using the same email
Email Verification provides a critical safeguard against accidental data loss and record overwrites—especially in unauthenticated form submissions. It helps maintain clean, accurate contact records while still allowing flexibility and a low-friction experience for new contact creation.
This release applies to Forms only. Similar functionality will be extended to other unauthenticated experiences, such as appointment bookings and event registrations, in a future update.
