Overview

By default, Element451 only displays emails and SMS messages from known contacts in your inbox. However, you can now enable anonymous conversations to allow your Element451 inbox to receive messages from unknown numbers and email addresses. This feature enhances communication flexibility by allowing messages from new or prospective contacts to reach you directly.

How It Works

When anonymous conversations are enabled:

  • Emails: Any email sent to the address connected to Element451 will be forwarded to your Element451 inbox, regardless of whether the sender is in your contact list.

  • SMS: SMS messages from numbers not saved in your records will also appear in your Element451 inbox.

This means no filtering will be applied to either channel. All emails and text messages, whether related to a contact or not, will create a new conversation. Before enabling anonymous conversations, it is a good idea to review what emails are sent to the email address you have connected to Element451.

Enabling Private Conversations

To start receiving SMS and email messages from unknown contacts, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Engagement > Conversations > Conversations Settings.

  2. Choose either Email or SMS from the left-hand menu, depending on which one you want to enable.

  3. Toggle on Enable Anonymous Conversations.

Identifying Anonymous Conversations

If the identity of the conversation's external participant cannot be determined by Element451, the name will be listed as "Unknown Visitor."

You can use the advanced filter tool within your inbox to narrow the conversation list by their known status (anonymous or not anonymous).

You can explore more about inbox indicators and markings in our Conversations Inbox help article.
