Voice Messages and Other Conversation Updates

We are introducing several new features and improvements to our Conversations module. The most notable enhancement is the ability to send voice-recorded messages within the Messenger channel, which provides a more personal and engaging way to communicate. This feature, along with other updates, enhances the flexibility and reliability of our communication tools, making interactions more efficient and user-friendly.


Voice Messages

Messenger now supports voice-recorded messages, allowing a new and engaging way of communicating with Contacts.

  • Universal: Applicable to all users–students, staff, and custom Bolt AI Assistants–enabling everyone to participate in voice-based conversations.

  • Exclusive to Messenger: Available exclusively on the Messenger channel and works with or without Bolt AI assistants enabled.

  • Auto Transcription: Both inbound and outbound voice messages are automatically transcribed.

When enabled for Bolt AI Assistants:

  • Custom Assistant Voices: Customize your Bolt AI Assistant's voices.

  • Multi-Language Support: Bolt AI Assistants can interpret and reply in the language spoken, facilitating seamless multilingual communication.

  • Voice-to-Voice Reply: Bolt AI Assistants only reply in voice when responding to a voice message.

  • Global Control: Administrators have the ability to turn on or off voice replies for Bolt AI Assistants, offering greater control over communication settings.

At this time, your default assistant can understand voice inbound messages but is unable to reply using voice.

Persist Filters in Conversations

Filters applied to the conversations inbox will now persist even after navigating away from the page, ensuring a consistent and efficient user experience.


Automatic Reconnect on Lost Connection

Sometimes a dropped connection could prevent Bolt AI Assistants, Bolt Discovery, or Messenger from populating due to an interruption in the end user’s connection. By automatically reestablishing the connection in more cases we've improved the user experience.

These updates enhance communication flexibility and reliability within the Conversations module. Voice-recorded messages provide a more personal and engaging way to interact with students. Meanwhile, persistent filters and improved connection handling streamline the user experience, making our platform more resilient and user-friendly.
