Application Portal Updates | June 2026

Updates to improve user experience, minimize duplicate records & apps, and provide clearer messaging.

Written by Eric Range

Released: June 8, 2026

Overview Header

This release delivers a set of targeted UX improvements to the Application Portal designed to reduce duplicate accounts, protect applicant identity data against accidental sharing (such as when a family uses a shared email address), and give admitted and deposited students a clearer, more appropriate experience through new dedicated greeting messages.

The updates address a recurring source of data integrity issues: returning applicants who unknowingly create new accounts instead of signing back in, applicants starting new applications instead of continuing an existing one, and identity fields that could be overwritten after account creation.

Alongside those registration-flow improvements, the admitted dashboard now surfaces the right actions more clearly — making "Next Steps" the obvious primary action and moving the Withdraw option to a less prominent position at the bottom of the page. Admins also gain new control over the messaging shown to Deposited and Withdrawn applicants.

Details Header
  • Returning applicant nudges on the portal: The application dashboard now uses a "Your applications are waiting" heading and redesigned application cards with a prominent "Open" buttons, making it easier and more obvisous for returning applicants to resume their existing application instead of starting a new one.

  • Sign-in prompts in the registration flow: The account creation modal now includes clearer messaging for applicants who already have an account, reducing accidental duplicate account creation.

  • Authenticated user context in the application start modal: When a signed-in user opens the application start modal, the modal now displays their name and email address with a prompt to log out if they are completing the application for someone else; the modal title also dynamically reflects the selected application name.

  • Applicant name locked after account creation: Name and date of birth fields are now locked to the account once created, preventing identity changes mid-application; a lock indicator with helper text is displayed inline, and an "Edit" link opens a confirmation modal for legitimate corrections.

  • Redesigned admitted dashboard withdraw action: The "Withdraw Application" button has been moved from the top of the admitted dashboard to the bottom of the page, restyled as a low-priority outlined button with explanatory helper text; the "Next Steps" button has been enlarged to be the clear primary action.

  • Deposited and Withdrawn dashboard messaging — Admins can now configure custom greeting messages for applicants in a Deposited or Withdrawn status, following the same pattern as the existing Admitted Greeting Message in Application Settings.

Benefit Header

These updates work together to improve data integrity at the point of application while giving students a more intuitive and appropriate experience at each stage of their journey. By steering returning applicants back to their existing accounts, locking identity fields after creation, and surfacing the right actions on the admitted dashboard, institutions can reduce manual data cleanup and ensure students always know what to do next.
