Overview
When students start an application, they are prompted to create an account. If, for some reason, they need to reset or change their password, they can do so through a self-service process, or you can manually change their password from the student's profile/record.
Note: This process is only for institutions utilizing Element451 authentication. If you are using SSO, the student's password must be reset by your institution.
Student Self-Service Password Reset
When a student is attempting to access an application site or microsite, they will be prompted to sign in. If the student has forgotten their password, they can follow the process below to reset their password:
Click forgot password.
Enter the email address on file with Element451.
Click reset password.
An email will be sent to the student with a link to create a new password.
β
Important: For a student to receive the password reset email, the User Password Reset Request autoresponder message must be active in your application settings (Applications > Applications > Application Settings).
Manually Change a User's Password
Navigate to Contacts > People.
Locate and open the person that you wish to deactivate.
Click on the settings icon (gray person silhouette with gear) in the upper right of the screen.
Click Change User's Password.
You will be prompted to enter a new password and then enter it again as confirmation.
Click Save.
The student should now be able to log in using the new password.
Troubleshooting
Issue: A student is trying to reset their password, and they have yet to receive the email.
Solution: The student needs to check their junk or spam folder in case the email was mistakenly sent there. Also, ensure that the User Password Reset Request autoresponder message is activated in your application settings by going to Applications > Applications > Application Settings. The student will only receive the email if this message is enabled.
