'Internal User' Permission Change

Overview: The change aimed at enhancing security and providing more control over your Element451 experience was implemented effectively on Monday, March 11th. We removed the Administer People Profiles permission from the Internal Users system permission group. This adjustment was designed to offer more tailored access control.

Details:

  • Permission Adjustment: The Administer People Profiles permission was removed from the default Internal Users system permission group as part of our recent update.

  • Customization and Control: With this change, institutions now possess enhanced ability to tailor access to People profiles, ensuring that access is granted only to staff members who require it.

  • Troubleshooting Post-Update: If you've noticed any disruptions in access since the update on March 11th, it's crucial to review and adjust permissions as needed. Although Element451 did not migrate permissions automatically to preserve your control over access settings, we're here to guide you through troubleshooting any issues that may arise.

Steps for Troubleshooting:

  • Review Current Users: Begin by examining which users are currently assigned to the Internal Users system permission group. Navigate to Settings > Manage Users > Permission Groups > Internal Users to see the list.

  • Identify Access Needs: Determine which members still need access to People Profiles to perform their duties effectively.

  • Update Permissions: To restore necessary access, add these members to the Manage Profiles system permission group. Alternatively, you might consider creating or editing custom permission groups to align with your operational requirements.

Benefit: This update empowers institutions with greater control over who has access to People profiles, aligning with best practices in data security and access management. By allowing for more granular permission settings, your institution can ensure that staff have access to only the information and tools they need, thereby enhancing both security and efficiency.
