⚠️ Legacy Feature Notice: Dashboards are a legacy feature in Element451 and are no longer being actively developed. While you can still access and use dashboards, we recommend exploring Insights, Bolt Staff Agents, and other modules for the most up-to-date and innovative experience.

Check out the What to Use Instead of Dashboards section below for a breakdown of our recommendations.

Overview

Dashboards provide a customizable snapshot view of key activities and data relevant to you. You may recall Dashboards as the old overview page, which the start page has replaced. While still functional for most users, Dashboards offer limited flexibility compared to newer features available in Element451. For example, tasks and conversations are better viewed using filters within their respective modules. And with our transition to the AI Workforce for Higher Ed, you can leverage Staff Agents for quick access to tasks, appointments, applications, and more relevant to you.

Accessing Dashboards

To access your Dashboards:

  1. Navigate to Data + Automation > Dashboards.

  2. Your default dashboard is named Main. You can rename it by clicking on the name in the header.

  3. To switch between dashboards, use the dropdown in the top-left.

  4. To set a different dashboard as your default, open it and click Set as Default in the header.

Managing Dashboards

You can create new dashboards or duplicate existing ones:

  1. Click the dropdown in the top-left of the page (where it says “Main” or the name of your default dashboard if you renamed it).

  2. Select New Dashboard or Duplicate Dashboard.

  3. You can then rename, rearrange, or delete dashboards as needed.

Adding Cards to a Dashboard

Cards are the building blocks of Dashboards—they display different types of data or quick views into other modules.

To add a card:

  1. Select the dashboard you want to edit from the dropdown.

  2. Click + Add Card in the top-right.

  3. Choose a card from the list and configure its settings.

Available Card Types

Analytics

  • Report (Segment): Displays a count of people in a segment, grouped by a selected trait.

  • List (Segment): Shows people from a segment based on the highest or lowest value of a selected trait.

  • Report (Event Attendees): Displays the number of people registered for specific events.

Modules

  • My Tasks: Shows a list of tasks assigned to you.

  • Starred Applications: Displays applications you’ve starred for review.

  • Assigned Applications: Lists applications that are assigned to you.

  • Assigned Conversations: Lists your assigned conversations.

What to Use Instead of Dashboards

Start Page

The Start Page has replaced the old /overview (Dashboard) experience, offering a more innovative way to get started in Element451. It’s designed to surface the most relevant information and tools based on your role and access level. Here’s what you’ll find on the Start Page:

  • Feature Cards: Up to six cards display key information tailored to you—such as recent tasks, applications, events, and more.

  • Bolt Staff Agent Bar: Use everyday language to ask questions or complete tasks. For example: “Show me my assigned conversations” or “Add a task for a student.”

  • Bolt Staff Agent Shortcuts: Click pre-built prompts to quickly open the Staff Agent panel and get what you need without typing a thing.

Custom Conversation Views

Custom Views bring flexibility and personalization to your Conversations Inbox. These saved, filtered views let you organize and access conversations based on what matters to you—whether that’s conversations assigned to you, by status, team, or message type.

Create multiple views for different workflows and switch between them easily.

Your Tasks + Task Mode

In the Tasks module, use the built-in “Your Tasks” filtered view to see what’s assigned to you at a glance.

And for a more focused experience, turn on Task Mode—a powerful feature designed to keep your tasks front and center, no matter where you are in Element451. Task Mode helps you stay on top of your most urgent to-dos by floating with you across modules.

Ask Bolt Staff Agents

Bolt Staff Agents are your built-in AI assistants designed to help you get things done faster. Ask questions in plain language about your students, team, tasks, and more, and get instant answers pulled from your data, internal Knowledge Hub, or the Element451 Help Center.

  • Context-Aware: Staff Agents understand where you are in the platform and tailor their responses to what you’re currently working on—whether you’re reviewing an application, managing a conversation, or in a workflow.

  • Action-Oriented: These agents don’t just answer questions—they help you complete tasks. For example:

    • “Do I have any overdue tasks?”

    • “Catch me up.”

    • “What decisions are assigned to me?”

    • "Prepare me for my next appointment."

  • Shortcuts for Quick Access: Utilize pre-built shortcuts to open the Staff Agent side panel with relevant prompts instantly. No typing required—click and go.
